Our mission is to promote and provide quality education to children and women who are economically deprived nurturing not just academic learning, but also vocational skills, personal character, and social values. We want every child we touch to grow into a self-reliant, responsible, and confident citizen.
A. Bharat Memorial Bimala Library (Book Bank) – BMBL
Showraberia Nivedita Seva Niketan firmly believes that illiteracy is deeply linked to poverty. disadvantage, and social exclusion. Our Bharat Memorial Bimala Library (BMBL) was established to break this cycle by bringing quality reading and learning resources directly to economically backward villagers and students. The library also serves as a vital component of the Adult Literacy Programme, promoting non-formal education at the grassroots level.
Key Activities
Book Bank & Resource Distribution
BMBL serves as a community resource centre providing books, pens, pencils, and educational materials to poor students free of cost – this year alone, stationery was distributed to 300 primary school students and 65 ECE students benefited from reference books supplied in partnership with Gram Unnayan Samity. Story Books & Demand-Based Distribution
Story books and general reading materials are distributed to villagers based on their individual needs and requests, encouraging a love of reading and lifelong learning beyond the classroom.
Mass Literacy Programme
Literacy drives are organized from time to time where books, pens, pencils, erasers, exercise books, and essential educational kits are distributed among poor students as part of our broader education promotion mission.
Talent Search Examination
Since February 4, 2007, an annual Talent Search Examination has been organized with participation from local primary and high school students in the inaugural year alone, 168 students participated, with all question papers supplied by Jatio Bigyan Parishad, Kolkata.
International Mother Language Day
Showraberia Nivedita Seva Niketan actively celebrates International Mother Language Day (21st February) to promote the value of linguistic heritage and education in one’s mother tongue, with events organized across community locations including Panitras, Samta, Bagnan, and Howrah.
Statue Inauguration Sister Nivedita & Mahatma Gandhi
On 22nd November 2004, statues of Sister Nivedita and Mahatma Gandhi were established and inaugurated under the initiative of our library section, symbolizing our commitment to the values of education, service, and national pride.
